Indian actress Helly Shah has opened up about her latest acting experience in the series "Chumbak”, sharing an emotional and detailed message with her followers on Instagram about her character Twinkle and the journey of bringing her to life.
In her heartfelt post, Helly Shah explained that every actor dreams of taking on roles that allow audiences to discover a completely different side of their personality and acting abilities, revealing that Twinkle became exactly that role for her.
The actress expressed her gratitude to the Netflix India team, as well as JD Majethia and director Aatish Kapadia, for trusting her with a character that she described as completely different from anything she had portrayed before.
Helly Shah also spoke warmly about working under the direction of Aatish Kapadia, praising the atmosphere he created on set and explaining that his approach made the actors feel comfortable enough to embrace their characters without being afraid of appearing silly, imperfect or vulnerable.
She wrote that she gradually fell in love with Twinkle because of all her different sides, including her madness, innocence and unique way of seeing the world. Helly emphasized that she wanted to portray every part of the character with complete honesty and without judgment.
The actress revealed that the role also allowed her to discover a version of herself that even she had never seen before, describing the experience as an important artistic journey and expressing her gratitude for the faith and guidance she received throughout the project.
Helly Shah also recalled her conversations with JD Majethia about Twinkle, explaining that they were particularly concerned that audiences should not misunderstand the character or consider her naive simply because she behaves differently.
According to Helly, Twinkle is not naive because she lacks intelligence. Rather, she is someone who was raised in an unusual environment, which shaped her reality and naturally made her problems and perspective different from those around her.
The actress explained that one of the main goals behind the character was to make audiences believe that someone like Twinkle could genuinely exist, rather than presenting her simply as a fictional figure created for comedy.
At the end of her message, Helly Shah thanked everyone who watched "Chumbak” and connected with Twinkle, particularly those who laughed with the character and accepted her exactly as the creators had hoped.
